A rare break in the weather! Getting past the Bridge was a challenge with big breakers!! A big tide and a better day than forecast however the Cod were ellusive!  We had loads of Pout and Dogs at 1.5 miles then moved inshore as the wind picked up and fished Totland where we caught a few Whiting, Pout and Dogs.

Solent, Gurnard Head

Tuesday 29th December

Neil, Dave, Mandy and Steve

Another rare break in the weather!  A big Spring tide, rain and some sunshine. We fished a new mark in the Solent. Fishing was hard early on in the flood tide needing 2lb to hold however as the tide eased we caught several good Whiting on baited hokkais. During the start of the Ebb, Steve landed a very nice 8lb Cod on a large squid and lugg cocktail. all in all a successful day in the Solent.

Needles & Solent, Gurnard Head

Sunday 17th January

The forecast looked good however we only managed 2 hours at the Needles then had to move as the wind picked up and we were broad side on....not good.....we had a couple of Congers, no Cod. We then had several good Whiting and a Spotted Ray in the Solent, overall  a hard, dissapoining day.

Needles 2 miles

20th January

John and Chris

Here we go again, the forecast looked good with a 5mph forecast however they lied again/!! We stuck it out in a F5 however only had Congers, Dogs and a few Whiting.....not for the lack of trying with Black Lugg, Cuttle and the usual squid and Macky baits.

Needles & Solent, Gurnard Head

Saturday 23rd January

Neil, Simon and Dave

Why oh why can't the weather folks in today's world of space travel and technology produce a more realistic forecast..........so today outside the Needles depending in which forecast you choose, they were giving anything from a F5 - F7 this afternoon.......well at 16.00 at 2 miles.....it was almost flat calm.....grrrrr!!!

I am glad my crew persuaded me to give it a try rather than stay in the Solent....OK we didn't manage a Cod today although one of the fish we lost could have been unless it was a nodding conger swimming forwards! Some nice Whiting during slack......this was one of the smaller ones, we won't mention the 4lb er that Simon dropped lifting it on the boat.....Oops
